Lubricity and advantages and disadvantages of phosphate esters

2020-07-03 09:05:20

   Phosphate ester has excellent flame resistance and good lubricity, its oxidation stability is better than that of mineral oil, and its thermal stability is better at medium and low temperature, but it will decompose at high temperature. Phosphate esters decompose in contact with water. It is easy to act on rubber, plastics, coatings and paints. Phosphate esters of certain structures also have certain toxicity, which are issues that should be paid attention to when using phosphate esters.

Advantages of Phosphate Esters:

(1)Fire resistant;

(2)Good oxidative stability with inhibitors;

(3)Good low temperature fluidity;

(4)Excellent scratch and wear resistance, good friction characteristics;

(5)Good radiation stability;

(6)biodegradable.

Disadvantages of Phosphate Esters:

(1)Poor viscosity-temperature characteristics;

(2)Poor hydrolytic stability;

(3)General corrosion resistance;

(4)Compatible with only a few sealing materials Fokker Specialty Grease.

Therefore, phosphate esters are suitable for use as flame-retardant hydraulic oil and flame-retardant grease base oil and lubricating additive.
