Grease Storage Precautions

2020-07-11 11:02:24

For the storage of grease, we should first pay attention to two points; the first is to prevent pollution; the second is to facilitate use.

(1)、Packaging Since grease is a colloidal system, especially soap-based grease, oil separation will inevitably occur under the action of long-term gravity. The larger the packaging container, the more serious this pressure oil separation phenomenon is. Therefore, try to avoid oversized packages, especially for greases used in precision machinery. The size of the package should be determined by the primary application of the grease grade.

(2)、When handling, handling and loading and unloading grease, it should be handled as lightly as possible, preferably erected to avoid heavy knocking. Damaged packaging containers, poor sealing, mixing with external impurities or infiltration of rainwater may cause the grease to deteriorate. During transportation, cover it well and take measures to protect it from weather. When carrying, it is best to use a tricycle or motor vehicle, do not roll along the edge of the bucket.

(3)、Storage and storage Grease should be stored indoors as much as possible to avoid sun and rain. If there is no indoor storage conditions for the time being, measures should also be taken to prevent wind, rain and dust pollution. The temperature change in the oil depot should not be too large, and necessary measures should be taken to keep the room temperature in the depot at 10-30 °C, because the large temperature change will cause the colloidal stability of the grease to deteriorate. In view of the long-term storage of lubricating grease, the oil will be continuously separated due to the action of gravity, so the stored products should be reasonably planned and arranged according to the actual production needs, so as to avoid long-term backlog, causing product deterioration and waste. Generally speaking, when conditions permit, products that have been stored for more than half a year should be re-sampled and tested for relevant indicators before use. For products that have indeed deteriorated, they cannot be used without force. In addition, the following principles should be considered: The grease with the longest shelf life is used first. This is because even a well-made grease will not deteriorate for two to three years. At the same time, the longer the storage time, the more likely the container is to rust and leak.
