Bearings are an important part of the entire machine and equipment, which is related to whether the equipment can work normally and its service life. Therefore, the quality of bearing grease is very important. What are the factors that need to be considered for bearing grease?
1. The working temperature of the bearing grease.
Operating temperature affects the viscosity change and lubricating effect of the grease. Therefore, when the working temperature is low, the grease with lower viscosity should be selected; when the working temperature is high, the grease with high viscosity or appropriate additives should be selected. When it is higher than that, solid lubricants can generally be considered. Depending on the ambient temperature, the viscosity of the selected grease should also change. For example, when lubricating the same bearing, in the north or winter of our country, the grease with lower viscosity should be selected than that in the south or summer. When the working temperature changes frequently, a grease with excellent viscosity-temperature characteristics should also be selected, that is, the viscosity of the grease used does not change much with the increase or decrease of the working temperature, so as to ensure that the thickness of the oil film is stable within a certain range.
2. Environmental factors of bearing grease.
When the bearing works under the conditions of humidity, corrosive gas, low temperature, dust and strong radiation, the grease is easily polluted and deteriorated. At this time, the grease with strong water resistance, wear resistance, corrosion resistance, cold resistance and radiation resistance should be selected. . In places with serious water splashing, emulsion spray, humid air or dust and debris, it is generally not suitable to use grease, but grease.
3. The working load of bearing grease.
The larger the load that the rolling bearing bears, the higher the viscosity of the grease should be, and it should have better oil and extreme pressure properties to prevent the grease from being squeezed out of the friction pair or causing direct metal-to-metal contact. The structural feature of bearing grease is that the smaller the radial clearance of the rolling bearing, the higher the machining accuracy of the friction surface, and the lower the viscosity of the grease should be.
4. The movement speed of the bearing grease.
The higher the rotation speed, the more low-viscosity grease should be used to avoid increased motion resistance and excessive heat generation; on the contrary, at low speeds, a higher-viscosity grease should be used to improve the bearing capacity.
5. Bearing accuracy. When the moving friction surface of the bearing is rough, the oil with high viscosity is generally used to withstand the local large pressure due to poor contact. When the precision of the moving friction surface is high, low-viscosity grease should be used to reduce unnecessary friction. Energy loss and temperature rise.
To select and use bearing grease, it is best to pay attention to the above factors to facilitate manufacturers and users to better use bearing grease.
